'Tis the season for yearly wrap-ups, and we're here to present the most checked-out books and movies this year from our library. 

Adult Fiction top titles
  1. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
  2. Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
  3. Ward D by Freida McFadden, Beach Read by Emily Henry

Frieda McFadden was the most read author in adult fiction, with 8 books out of the top 100. Tying for second place were David Baldacci and Emily Henry, both with 4 books in the top 100.

The most read author in the young adult category was Koyoharu Gotōge, whose manga series Demon Slayer showed up 11 times in the top 60 titles. In second place was another manga author Kōhei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia) with 6 volumes, and close behind in third place with 5 titles was fantasy author Sarah J. Maas.

Middle Grade top titles
  1. Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls by Dav Pilkey, The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown
  2. Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild by Dav Pilkey, Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas by Dav Pilkey, Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack Vol. 25 by Jim Davis

The top author in the middle grade (or juvenile) section was Dav Pilkey, the author of the Dog Man and Captain Underpants series, with a whopping 16 titles in the top 120! In second place with 7 titles was the author of another popular series: Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid). In third place with 6 titles was Laura Ingalls Wilder, whose Little House on the Prairie series began over 90 years ago, but is still being read by kids (and adults) today.

  2. A Friend for Dragon by Dav Pilkey, Pete the Cat's Groovy Imagination by Kimberly & James Dean, If You Give a Dog a Donut by Laura Numeroff, I Do Not Eat Children by Marcus Cutler, Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems, Please, Mr. Panda by Steve Antony

In the children's picture book section, the top author was Mo Willems, author of the Pigeon and the Elephant and Piggie books, with 14 of the top 180 titles. In second place was the classic Dr Seuss, who had 11 titles, and in third with 7 titles, the Pete the Cat authors Kimberly and James Dean.

Movies top titles

  3. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

The most checked out movies this year were spread across genres and decades.
